GALVESTON ISLAND BEACH PATROL INFO & STATS

The Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIBP) is certified as an “advanced” level agency of the United States Lifesaving Association and is the designated lifeguard service for the city of Galveston and is a department of the Galveston Island Park Board of Trustees.

GIBP is certified as an “advanced” level agency of the USLA, and is the designated lifeguard service for the city of Galveston.

Meet the men and women who work tirelessly each and every day to keep our beaches safe and secure.

The Park Board of Trustees is a governmental entity created for the purpose of directing all tourism efforts for Galveston.

The Park Board Police Department augments the operations of the Galveston Island Beach Patrol and fits under the GIBP umbrella.

The GMR is a multi-agency response group that is under the command of the Galveston Emergency Management Office.

Spend your summer on the beach in a fun, challenging and responsible position working for the Galveston Island Beach Patrol!

Our lifeguard academy consists of 100 hours of training including American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, United States Lifesaving Association Open Water Lifeguard Training, tourist relations training and physical training. Lifeguard candidates will be paid a training wage for the time they spend in the training course.
